The FarmBot project started at Engine-4, when we decided to buy and install a machine to experiment, learn and develop technology dedicated to agriculture.

Since the Farmbot is OpenSource, we gradually got to know the CNC and ended up creating and modifying some of the parts as we learned about it. We got a grant from the Department of Economic Development and Commerce to install 10 Farmbot units in different schools of the Puerto Rico Department of Education. The schools are located in the municipalities of Morovis, Lares, Carolina, Isabela, San Sebastian, Barceloneta, Arecibo, Camuy, Canovanas, and Juana Diaz.

We are currently in the phase of preparing the logistics and purchase of materials. The 10 Farmbot units have already been ordered and are on their way to the island. Once we have the units in our hands, we will be able to start the project and be able to impact both teachers and students by integrating technology in agriculture.
